We’ve all asked ourselves this question at one time or another. This time of year, a glass of rose or white wine can go well with your meal. It’s refreshing and goes well with seafood and salads. Even though we love #WhiteWineSummer, you can also enjoy a red wine if you serve it at the correct temperature.
This article will tell you which wines to drink in the summer and how to store them. Take notes!
What to drink during summer
We have already mentioned that whites, roses, and sparkling wines go best with summer dishes and temperatures. Young fruity reds can also be a great choice. Variety is the spice of life, so we don’t think that there is a single type of summer wine. Which wine should we choose? Here are some tips on how to choose the right wine for your summer.
White Wines go well with summery dishes such as seafood or grilled fish (Chardonnay stands out in this instance). Roses are also great with pasta, cold soups, Asian food, and salads. Red wines go well with meats and saucy dishes like fish. What about sparkling wine, though? They’re great with desserts or ice cream.
In the summer, you should choose a wine that has a lower alcohol level (such as young wine) because alcohol can cause dehydration. You can also select a wine-based cooler drink such as Tinto de Verano, a red wine shandy, or some cocktails. You can now enjoy your wine with some ice.

How to cool your wine in the summer
You can store white wine or roses in your fridge during the summer months. Red wines kept in the refrigerator for several days may go bad or change in taste.
You can chill a wine in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving. These wines are best kept between 15-20oC. You can also chill them by putting them in an ice bucket with some ice and cold water.
White wines can be chilled in the same manner, but they must sit in the refrigerator for at least two hours to reach a temperature suitable for summer, around 8-10oC.
Trick: Add a little bit of salt to a wine bottle in an ice bucket to make it chill faster.

Wine Cooling Accessories
You can buy electric coolers at home that are smaller and cheaper than the professional models. One-bottle wine coolers are also available.
If you have to chill wine within 10 minutes, the freezer is a great option. But don’t keep it there for too long. Instead, wrap it up in a paper towel or damp cloth to help it cool faster.
Open Bottles: How to Store Them
You can use a vacuum stopper to remove the air from the bottle and prevent the wine from oxidising.

Enjoying wine in the summer
Keep your wine away from the sun, even if you have it in an ice bucket. Sunlight can cause serious damage to the product.
Even if the weather is hot, you shouldn’t put ice into your wine. Now, you can get a silicon ice cube to cool your drink down without affecting its taste. This is the best option for white wines of lower quality.
Last but not least, hold your glass by the stem and keep it half-full. Holding your glass by the bowl will cause it to warm up faster, so you won’t get much time with your chilled wine.
